Privacy Policy

Effective date: October 28, 2026

On this page

Scapegoat Studio LLC (“we,” “us,” or “our”) respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect through the Barnyard Blitz website (the “Site”), how we use it, and the choices you have.

1. Information We Collect

Information you give us. If you sign up for our newsletter, we collect your email address, along with the date you signed up, the IP address you signed up from and, where available, the country associated with that IP address. If you contact us by email, we collect your name, email address, and the contents of your message.

Information collected automatically. When you visit the Site, we and our service providers may automatically collect technical information such as your IP address, browser type, device type, operating system, pages viewed, referring website, and the date and time of your visit. See Cookies and Analytics for details.

Information we do not collect. We do not sell products directly on the Site, so we do not collect or store payment card information. If you purchase our game through a third-party retailer such as Amazon, that retailer collects your payment and shipping information under its own privacy policy.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • send you our newsletter, game updates, and announcements (only if you have subscribed);
  • respond to your questions and requests;
  • understand how visitors use the Site and improve its content and performance;
  • measure advertising and optimize our Meta (Facebook and Instagram) ads;
  • protect the Site against fraud, abuse, and security threats; and
  • comply with legal obligations.

We do not use your information to make automated decisions that significantly affect you.

3. Cookies and Analytics

We use Vercel Web Analytics to understand, in aggregate, how the Site is used. For each page view it records the page, the referring website, your approximate location (country, region, and city), and your browser, operating system, and device type. It does not use third-party cookies; instead, visits are grouped using a hash of the incoming request that is discarded after 24 hours.

We also use the Meta Pixel and Meta Conversions API to measure and improve our ads on Facebook and Instagram. Meta may set cookies such as _fbp and _fbc on your device. We send Meta event data (for example, a page view, a click on the purchase button, or a newsletter signup) along with technical information such as your IP address, browser, and, when you subscribe, a hashed copy of your email address. Meta may use this information as described in Meta's Privacy Policy.

Trailer video. The trailer on our home page is hosted on YouTube. Nothing is loaded from YouTube until you press play. When you do, the video plays in YouTube's privacy-enhanced mode, and YouTube may store cookies or similar data on your device and collect information about how you watch, as described in Google's Privacy Policy.

4. How We Share Information

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only in these limited circumstances:

  • Service providers. We use Vercel to host the Site and provide analytics, and Convex to store newsletter signups. They may process your information only to provide services to us.
  • Advertising. We send event data to Meta Platforms so we can measure and improve ads on Facebook and Instagram. Meta may also use that data as described in its privacy policy.
  • Legal reasons. We may disclose information if required by law, or to protect our rights, safety, or property, or that of others.
  • Business transfers. If we merge with, are acquired by, or sell assets to another company, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction.

6. Newsletter and Email Choices

You can unsubscribe from our newsletter at any time by clicking the “unsubscribe” link at the bottom of any email or by contacting us at jon@scapegoatstudio.net. We will stop sending marketing emails promptly. We may still send you non-promotional messages related to a request you made.

7. Data Retention

We keep your information only as long as needed for the purposes described in this policy. For example, we keep your email address and the signup details stored with it on our newsletter list until you unsubscribe, and we keep correspondence for as long as needed to handle your request, unless the law requires us to keep it longer.

8. Data Security

We take reasonable steps to protect your information, including working with reputable providers and using encryption where appropriate. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. Children's Privacy

The Site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has given us personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

10. Your Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights regarding your personal information, including the right to:

  • access the personal information we hold about you;
  • correct inaccurate information;
  • request deletion of your information;
  • opt out of marketing communications;
  • object to or restrict certain processing; and
  • receive a copy of your information in a portable format.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at jon@scapegoatstudio.net. We may need to verify your identity before responding.

California residents. Under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), you have the right to know what personal information we collect, to request its deletion, and to not be discriminated against for exercising your rights. We share event data and hashed identifiers with Meta for advertising measurement and optimization. To opt out of Meta's offsite ads, use the controls in your Facebook or Instagram settings or visit Meta's ad preferences.

European Economic Area, UK, and Swiss residents. Where the GDPR applies, our legal bases for processing are your consent (for the newsletter), our legitimate interests (operating and improving the Site, measuring our ads, and keeping it secure), and compliance with legal obligations. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. Your information may be processed in the United States or other countries whose data protection laws differ from yours.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The updated version will be posted on this page with a new effective date. We encourage you to review it periodically.
